Todd Cordell: Michael Stone's contract is already a problem for the Calgary Flames

Bennett on the rumour chart to Boston all of a sudden?? Is Ek on glue? WTF do we want from Boston (outside of Pastrnak who they would never move)?!?

Yet the coach uses him like he's golden, giving him pp time and work on the penalty kill. Said 2 months ago trade Stone, we need to make room for the kids! Especially when the kids are better. GG better prioritize who he's loyal to, we saw it with Engelend last year, Stone and Brodie this year.
We need to go 13-7-1 the rest of the year if we hope to have a chance for the playoffs. Trade deadline coming, should be interesting.
Unless Tre gets a kings ransom for Bennett I don't see him going anywhere, not sure what Boston has that would warrant giving up on Sam.

Tonight we need some of the forwards to light it up, Clyde I'd say this is a MUST WIN!

There's 3 more important moves that need to happen before trading Stone..

1. Fire Gulutzen and Coaching staff
2. Trade Brouwer
3. Trade Stajan


This team is so soft, mentally weak, and as Gulutzen keeps saying after every game "unprepared".

Brouwers has 15pts, and Stajan has 7pts, so we might as well get some guys that are least big and hard to play against. Any scrub can stand in front of the net and let Gaudreau bounce pucks off them for 15pts. 7pts is just embarassing.

And let's get some (frank)in coaches that can prepare the team to win some games!!

If Bennett is traded before Gulutzen is fired then Treliving pretty much signed his resignation papers.

Our team has poorer corsi with our third pairing defensemen out? Not like our top four are all proven exceptional breakout passers..

How quick are we all to forget how awful we were when one of our top four got injured and we had no competent veteran to step in?

When was the last time the Flames organization ever traded a UFA during the first year of his contract?

Stone is fine. The stretch is just beginning. Injuries will come. We've had some god awful third pairings. Kulak-Stone is fine.

How are his stats for keeping the front of the net clear? What? We mostly only follow stats involving the puck?

This team is a good team on paper, BUT I really think there is a dressing room problem and its the (frank)ing coaching staff. I don't think GG is a players coach, he should be fired which will happen when the Flames don't make the playoffs this year. Tonight is a must win for the Flames but the Yotes will win by a pair.

Exactly what I think. I also think the depth on this team is so so at best but the Blog touches on that with Stone. No use complaining about GG at this point but as he'll be gone if they miss. The last thing I want to see is BT shipping out youth in a attempt to win now. Maybe a veteran goalie if Smith's out for much more time but that's it.

I know Chucky can only be in a couple places at once but I truly think its easier to backfill the 3M than find a winger for the Janko Bennett line.

You know its bad when the Flames are underdogs in the sporting books against Arizona, $100 bucks on the Flames would get $200. Anyone feel lucky??

Trade those two to who and for what? Brouwers contract is a non-starter even if we could get a bag of puck's and a sweaty jock strap in return. And no one will take Stajan's "veteran Experience". Our roster unless we move (Brodie/Bennett/prospects) is going to look eerily similar after the TDL...

Forget trades then... Press Box or Minors for the rest of the season. We aren't making the playoffs with them in the lineup.

Unfortunately you're right about nothing happening. Just a shame to see our young guys lose more and more confidence with every game GG continues to coach, or whatever he's doing that the team is always unprepared.

Allot of salary in the presser... likely means, we get to see more of each.

Maybe the best thing is to fall out. We have seen this before, right on the cusp but juuuuust missing. It was called the Iggy years.

The flames have one bad week and suddenly it's time to pack it in? Thank God none of you "sell everything" fans have any influence on the team.

We're 1-2 wins out of playoffs... This time last year the flames were just about getting ready for their playoff drive, everybody needs to calm down. Of course they should be higher but so should the preds have been last year with the finish they had.

I for one would love to see the flames slip into a wildcard in the last week and play Vegas - does anyone really think they can keep this magic run up?

Not to mention the flames have one of the best road records - who cares if they don't start at home.

Steeger will be back soon, this team is gonna wake TF up, and we'll soon be fighting over which line combos we wanna see for the playoffs.

So...same lineup,same lines. Apart from a few players, the fuking team has looked like poop!! Is it really going to hurt to to change the lines a little janko,Bennett,tk. Sit stone bring up fat R. Try something. I accually don't mind gg for the most part!! But come on!! What you are saying or doing with this group isn't working.and if that is the case we'll guess that means they have tuned you out!! And that is a major prob!! Especially this time of year. And honestly NHL players shouldn't have to be motivated!! They know what needs to be done. SO the team has tuned him out that =firing
